Caila's JDM PledgePage
In June of 2006 Caila was diagnosed with a rare muscle disease called Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM). This is an autoimmune disease which attacks the muscles and blood vessels under the skin.
Caila takes many medications to treat this disease one is called IVIG (Intravenous Immunoglobin). This medication helps regulate her immune system so it stops attacking her body. She receives this treatment in the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Day Medicine unit every 6 weeks. We are there from 8:30am to 5pm. The dedicated staff does everything they can to make the kids comfortable and keep there minds off the IV’s and side effects they experience from the medication. One way of doing this is watching movies. Over the past year we have noticed that the VCR’s and videos are a bit dated and an overhaul is desperately needed and the Jefferson clan would like to do their part to kick this off by donating DVD/VCR units. Our goal is to raise at least $1500.00 to provide DVD/VCR units for each room in the wing as well as a small DVD library. Please help us show our thanks and appreciation to Children’s Hospital Day Medicine Unit for their diligence and gentle care of Caila and all the children they come in contact with each day. Please make all donations by June 30th. We thank you for your continued support and prayers for our family. For more information about Juvenile Dermatomyositis, please visit www.CUREJM.com. |
